The Cold War Never Ended

I'm afraid that reports of the Cold War's demise have been greatly exaggerated:
Russia registered a new post-Soviet arms sales record last year, exporting $6.1 billion worth of weapons, a top government official said Thursday.
Iran, Syria, Vietnam, China, and Venezuela are among the countries buying arms from Russia.
According to The Wall Street Journal:
"If Venezuela wants to get MiGs, [Russians]are ready to cooperate."
An astute reader might note that these countries have a few things in common. First, they are all run by totalitarian, quasi-communist governments. Second, they are all countries at odds with America's foreign policy.

The Cold War never ended, it just took a break.
