Beer and movie review
We had a pretty major ice storm this weeekend, so Friday I decided it would be a great night for a movie and a beer next to the fire.
Trois Pistoles
I picked up a 4-pack of this beer from Unibroue. This is a very good Belgian-style dark strong ale. Not quite as polished as its true Belgian counterparts but a good drink nevertheless. I did note a bit of a strange aftertaste that other reviewers have noted, but it didn't distract too much. For those of you who haven't tried any Belgian or Belgian-style ales, this is a good place to start.
Garden State
Yeah, I know that I am late to the show on this one. But better late than never.
Contrary to many reviews I have read, this movie did not change my life. Nevertheless, what a great movie. Zach Braff is outstanding (btw, he has a blog) and Natalie Portman is mesmerizing (and I dont' feel creepy about being mesmerized by her unlike her work in The Professional). There are many wonderful bits of absurdist humor such as the knight scene and the goofus pyramid marketing fellow. However, the best part of the movie is the soundtrack; this is one of the best soundtracks I have ever heard.
