Am I Really an Evangelical?

Jollyblogger clued me in to a good new blog: ryan wentzel. Ryan has a post, Am I Really an Evangelical?, that made me start thinking whether I am truly an evangelical or whether we need a new definition of evangelical.

Like Ryan, I am very purposefully ignorant of the Christian subculture. If I ever go in a Christian bookstore again in my life, it will be too soon. And I loathe Christian music. It is a shame that these sort of things are often used as a cipher for what it means to be an evangelical. Hopefully we are starting to strip away many of these unneccesary, and often harmful, things.
