More crazy talk

The City of Atlanta is considering an anti-panhandling ordinance that would ban panhandling in a particular part of town.

I was particularly amused by a quote from the regional director of the Rainbow/PUSH coalition, Joe Beasley.
"This is a mean, cold, calculated move...at some point, they'll strap a belt around their waist and blow you up. We've got to become a more loving city."
Joe, you aren't going to help your cause by making such extreme statements. And are you suggesting that the homeless in Atlanta are on the verge of becoming terrorists?

I am quite sympathetic to the plight of the homeless and indigent. But there are certainly better ways to make the case against an anti-panhandling ordinance.
