Worshipping God at a monument to Man

I had a very ironic moment during my trip to New York. We generally go to Redeemer Presbyterian Church when we go up there as that is where my wife went to church in college and our friends go there now. Redeemer has recently started morning services on the Upper West Side as a most unusual place....the New York Society for Ethical Culture building.

What, you may ask, is the New York Society for Ethical Culture? According to their website,
"Ethical Culture is a humanistic religious and educational movement inspired by the ideal that the supreme aim of human life is working to create a more humane society."

What an odd place. The entire place had the trappings of a church, yet with the entire focus on man rather than God. Yet it is now being used for such great purposes.
