FEMA Head Michael Brown: Politics at its worst

How is it that someone with zero experience in emergency managemenet can get to be the head of FEMA? Check out this sentence from the LA Times:

"Michael D. Brown left his job in Colorado supervising horse-show judges to work for Bush's longtime political aide, Joe Allbaugh, who was heading the Federal Emergency Management Agency in the new administration."

Supervising horse-show judges??? You have got to be kidding me. We all know that people often get jobs based on who they know. I don't necessarily have a problem with that so long as the person has the experience and background to do the job. But this is ridiculous.

Now I am sure that many on the Left will use this point out how ChimpyBushHitler appointed Brown for the sole purpose of killing lots of poor black people. In reality, it is pure incompetance on the part of the Bush administration to have someone like this get to be the head of something like FEMA.

It is time for conservatives to start holding the Bush administration accountable. I AM one of the small government conservatives that would like to see the size of our federal government shrink considerably. But if we are going to have this large bureaucracy, at least put competent people in charge.
