Schwarzenegger Vows Gay Marriage Bill Veto

For my own sanity, I need to get my mind off of the hurricane for a bit. I found this interesting piece of news tonight. I'm sure that many social conservatives will applaud Schwarzeneggar's move here. But one remark that Ah-nald made about this really bothers me:

"The Republican governor had indicated previously that he would veto the bill, saying the debate over same-sex marriage should be decided by voters or the courts."

Decided by voters or the courts??? What have we come to? Conan is advocating either a pure democracy or a oligarchy? Last I checked, we live in a republic. Oh, that it would be so again.
