The Muslim Cartoons: Cowardice and Hypocrisy of the Mainstream Media

I will have more to say about the continuing Muslim cartoon story later this week. But the obvious connection here in American is the utter hypocrisy of the media. Large-scale riots have occurred in multiple countries around the globe, embassies have been set on fire, people have been killed, journalists' lives have been threated, and Ronald McDonald has been smoked, yet....

Yet, somehow fewer than 10 mainstream media outlets in the United States have seen fit to show the cause of this increasing violence. Pathetic!

Pathetic because of the underlying dishonesty. Journalists in this country have historically prided themselves in always fighting for the freedom of the press and freedom of speech. But now they are unwilling to fight. They are unwilling to fight because of fear. This fear is entirely understandable. Yet where is the admission of fear. And honesty.

The great irony is the ridiculous outrage of the media over the Cheney shooting accident. Captain Ed says it best:
"When our media has the testicular fortitude to report on terrorists honestly, then they will have gained the moral authority to lecture any White House on censorship and the responsibility of fully informing the public. Until then, such demonstrations as we saw this week by the White House press corps only stands as a perverse monument to the media's hypocrisy and venality."
